Tariffs dropped on meat, tomatoes, bananas and coffee

Donald Trump reduces tariffs on beef, tomatoes, bananas and coffee. The president's order is aimed at reducing food prices and thus responding to Americans' frustration over the high cost of living.

Trump's order is retroactive to 13 November and provides a series of exemptions on products that cannot be produced in the US in sufficient quantities to meet domestic demand. The long list also includes nuts, avocados and pineapples. The reduction had been pre-announced by various US officials and had already attracted a range of criticism, with many on social media going back to 'Taco Trump', or 'Trump always chickens out'.
