Ukraine, 50 UN members: Moscow 'threats' against diplomats in Kiev. Rubio: 'War must end'
The US Secretary of State called for a diplomatic resolution. Moscow accuses Musk of supplying its satellites to Ukraine to attack Russia.
The war in Ukraine is 'terrible', has lasted longer than World War II and 'must end'. This was said by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, speaking to reporters on board the plane.
"Every time you see big attacks on one side or the other, it's a reminder that this is a terrible war that has been going on longer than World War II and it has to end," Rubio said. The US diplomatic chief reiterated Washington's readiness to help end the conflict: 'The United States is ready and prepared to help, doing everything possible to facilitate an end to this war,' he said.
Rubio added that Washington hopes a space will open up to play a diplomatic role. "We hope that at some point the opportunity will present itself to be able to play this role," he concluded.
Russia launched more than 100 drones and two ballistic missiles against Ukraine overnight. This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.
The accusation against Musk
Elon Musk's satellites are being used by Ukrainian forces for attacks on Russian territory, said Vyacheslav Volodin, chairman of the Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament. "Elon Musk must understand that his satellites are being used to kill children. His respectable image is in total contrast to what is really happening,' Volodin said during a plenary session devoted to the attack in Starobilsk. In this locality in the Russian-controlled Ukrainian region of Lugansk, Moscow reported last week a deliberate raid by Kiev forces against a high school student dormitory, with a death toll of 21 dead and over 40 wounded. "This issue also applies to those American companies that allow the Kiev regime to use their satellite constellation," Volodin added, quoted by Interfax. "For our part, we must ask as many European parliamentarians as possible, even those with an ounce of conscience, to stop helping terrorists. We must do everything possible to ensure that those who gave the orders, those who targeted the school with drones, are held accountable," the Duma president concluded.
