An air attack combined with missiles and drones was launched overnight on Kiev and other cities, including Kharkiv and Zaporizhia, by Russian armed forces. As reported by the Kyiv Independent, local authorities report damage to residential buildings and civil infrastructure. The first explosions occurred in the Ukrainian capital at around 4 a.m. local time, as Ukrainian air defence systems targeted incoming targets.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that air defences had been activated in the city and warned residents to stay in safe places. Monitoring channels also reported the possible launch of additional missiles by Russian aircraft. Fires were reported at a private property in the Holosiivskyi district, while a two-storey house caught fire in the Pecherskyi district following the attack.
