The Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, has declared a day of city-wide mourning on 2 July, the day of the funeral of Francesco Imprezzabile, the local police officer who died during a car chase on 22 June.
The funeral service will be held at 11.00 am at the parish church of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, at Via Fratelli Rosselli 6.
Throughout the day, the municipal flag will be flown at half-mast at all municipal buildings as “a further sign of the Milanese community’s mourning and solidarity”.
The viewing room was set up at the Domus Funeraria San Donato, at 1 Via Nilde Iotti in San Donato Milanese, on 30 June and 1 July from 8 am to 7 pm, and on 2 July from 8 am to 10 am.
Sala: The cathedral wasn’t available for Imprezzabile’s funeral, but I’ll be there
“We asked the Curia whether the Cathedral was available” for Francesco Imprezzabil. “After that, if the Cathedral isn’t available, I can’t question the reasons why or how it came about; I’ll ask and then accept whatever they tell me,” added Sala, assuring that he would “obviously” be present at the funeral.
