Van overturns in the Foggia area: one farm labourer dead and nine injured

The group of workers were on their way back to the Foggia area after a day’s work in the countryside of the neighbouring region of Molise.
The circumstances of the accident
The accident occurred at around 1.00 pm. The Carabinieri and the local police attended the scene. A total of ten farm labourers were travelling in the van; all were legally employed and of Moroccan nationality, aged between 21 and 49. The vehicle veered off the road of its own accord, for reasons yet to be established. The toll is one fatality – a passenger – and the others, who are injured but not in a life-threatening condition, have been taken to hospitals in Foggia, San Severo and Termoli.
The most seriously injured person was taken away by air ambulance
The most seriously injured person, as reported by the mayor of Serracapriola, Michele Leombruno, to the AdnKronos news agency, “was taken to hospital by air ambulance, whilst three other passengers, who were also in a critical condition, were taken to A&E by other means of transport”.
