Vannacci towards joining the AfD group, announcement on Tuesday

The MEP and founder of Futuro Nazionale, Roberto Vannacci, is about to announce a switch to the Europe of Sovereign Nations group in the Euro Chamber, the European family of the German ultra-right Alternative für Deutschland. The group has reportedly already booked the room for a press conference on 24 February at 9.30 am, for an announcement on 'developments concerning the Esn group'. It appears from the programme that, in addition to Vannacci, the group's co-chairmen René Aust (Germany, AfD) and Stanislaw Tyszka (Poland, Konfederacja) will be speaking.

After his farewell to the League Vannacci was ousted from the 'Patriots' group in the European Parliament, the formation that hosts, in addition to the League, the Rassemblement National of Marine Le Pen. A group, that of the Patriots, with which the general's relations have never been idyllic. In September 2024, Vannacci was suspended from the group's vice-presidency under pressure from the Rassemblement National because of his positions that were considered too extreme or divisive within the group.

The Esn group is dominated by the Germans of AfD, the rising star of the European ultra-right (accused of neo-Nazism) that has made inroads in the eastern Länder and among young people. "Roberto Vannacci is a very good politician and we are his fans, let's see what will happen," said group leader René Aust in recent days. In the same group, the party of the anti-Semitic and pro-Russian Polish ultra-right Konfederacja, a movement compared to which Mateusz Morawiecki's Pis (Law and Justice, in Polish Prawo i Sprawiedliwość) appears almost moderate. The Poles are joined by Lithuanians and Czechs, as well as the Bulgarians of Vazrazhdane (Rebirth), homophobes and Putinites. Not forgetting Reconquête, the French formation of Éric Zemmour,

Alternative für Deutschland and the galaxy of parties of the far-right Europe of Nations group are united by their pro-Russian positions. These are movements that, after the invasion of Ukraine, have never sided with Kiev. It is also worth mentioning that the National Future MPs, who are in favour of Italia's participation in the Board of Peace for Gaza, also wished the Russian Federation to join.

At the same time, they are movements that launch daily rants against Ursula von der Leyen and the EU leadership. And they make remigration a fundamental pillar. The latter, understood as repatriation not only of irregular immigrants but also of non-integrated ones, is one of the general's keywords. In Futuro Nazionale's launch manifesto it is written that 'mass immigration, even when not criminal, crumbles the compactness of a civilisation, shatters social solidarity and waters down the identity of a people'. And 'for those who do not integrate and assimilate, remigration becomes a necessity'. Not only that. On 4 March in the Chamber of Deputies, Vannacci is expected to present Fututuro nazionale's bill on security, family and remigration. And to remigration, Vannacci dedicates a (paid) performance on 15 March in Montecatini Terme.
