Travel within our country will be carried out using public transport
Vienna, too, has resumed deporting migrants back to our country.
This is reported by the Austrian news agency APA, which explains that four asylum seekers have already been deported to our country. Austria’s decision – as sources at the Ministry of the Interior in Vienna state – follows those already announced by Germany and Switzerland, and was taken on the basis of the new migration pact which came into force on 12 June.
The transfers within our country were carried out using public transport, with the Austrian authorities providing the migrants with a train or bus ticket. At present, Italian government sources approached on the matter have not yet commented on the news.
A total of 80,000 requests were made to Italia to take charge of so-called ‘Dublin cases’ since 5 December 2022 (the date of Minister Piantedosi’s circular which halted returns) to 31 December 2025.
According to reports, these are cases in respect of which our country has suspended all transfers.
