Volkswagen works council chair: ‘Confidence in the board of directors has been undermined’

The chair of the works council of VW, (the workers’ representatives, ed.), Daniela Cavallo, has sharply criticised the group’s board of directors, led by Oliver Blume, during a staff meeting in Wolfsburg.

Trust, particularly in Blume, has been undermined, Cavallo said, according to reports from some of those attending the meeting held at the main plant.

This is according to the DPA. “You cannot work with a chief executive who does not tell his staff how things stand,” said Cavallo, referring to the communication provided so far regarding the planned cost-saving measures. Blume emphasised during the meeting the need for further cost-saving measures.
