Key points
Make sure that the statements made by Francesca Albanese in schools are true because, if so, they 'could constitute possibilities of crime'.
This is what the Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara, who has asked the competent bodies to initiate inspections for the webinars held by the UN Special Rapporteur for the occupied Palestinian territories in some institutes in Tuscany, is checking.
Valditara: "Reality check and school accountability"
Valditara said he had 'read in the press that the rapporteur had made statements that, if proven, could constitute criminal offences. The inspections aim to verify the reality of the facts and the possible responsibility of the school bodies involved
Francesca Albanese's webinars
It consists of three virtual meetings - with students from lower and upper secondary schools - as part of the project Teachers for Gaza. The modalities, as explained, are divided into two points: a guided reading of the text "Quando il mondo dorme" by Francesca Albanese and a meeting with the author.
The project, he explains, "proposes to enrich the cultural landscape of Italian students, offering an authentic and in-depth perspective on Palestine through direct contact with experts. The main objective is to overcome stereotypes and prejudices of a reality often reduced to superficial media simplifications, promoting intercultural understanding and critical thinking, and the development of transversal skills through an interdisciplinary approach'.
