Google responds to OpenAi. Specifically to Sora's video generation service. Gemini Advanced subscribers will be able to select the Veo 2 from the drop-down menu in Gemini. This function creates an eight-second video clip with a resolution of 720p, delivered as an MP4 file in 16:9 widescreen format. In addition, Google One AI Premium subscribers can use Whisk Animate to transform images into eight-second animated clips.

What is Veo 2. It is Sora's counterpart in the business model as well: there is a monthly limit to the number of videos you can create, but we will let you know when you approach that limit. The way it works is identical: just describe the scene you want to create - be it a short story, a visual concept or a specific scene - the more detailed your description, the more control you have over the final video. Unlike Sora, by tapping the share button you can quickly upload engaging short videos to platforms such as TikTok and YouTube Shorts. In addition, all videos generated with Veo 2 are marked with SynthID, a digital watermark embedded in each frame, indicating that the videos are generated by AI.

What is Whisk? It is a generative AI experiment that allows you to create new images using both text and image prompts, and now animate them into videos. This new feature will allow you to take the images you generate and instantly turn them into vivid eight-second videos with Veo 2. Subscribers can try Whisk Animate today at labs.google/whisk.

Better Sora or Veo 2?

Let's say Whisk is more interesting because you have more control over the audio-video. In the direct comparison you judge. The prompt is the same: 'A crowd of people walk through the streets of a futuristic metropolis, where advertising holograms dance in the air. A street artist paints pictures that come to life and fly away.

After comparing them for a few hours, we can say that Veo 2 is more precise in its physics and cleaner. Sora is also more impressive because it started earlier and evidently recruited a higher number of artists and pioneers. The big lack of Veo 2 is the ability to upload images. Remember Ghibli-mania and the viral puppet phenomenon? That's where it all started.
