Youth Jubilee, Rome ready to welcome up to one million people

The capital and its institutions are working to welcome up to one million pellegrini for the Youth Jubilee to be held from 28 July to 4 August, with the central celebrations on 2 and 3 August: the vigil with Pope Leo XIV and the mass at Tor Vergata.

"From the 28th the first groups will start arriving. The controls will be carried out on every single person, not on a random basis,' explained the prefect of Rome, Lamberto Giannini, at the end of the Extraordinary Committee for Order and Security dedicated to the event.

Three main pedestrian routes, aerial interdictions and anti-drone services will be activated, and contingents from the Spanish Guardia Civil, French Gendarmerie and Polish National Police will also be present to support the initiatives, due to the high influx of young people from those countries.

The head of the Civil Protection, Fabrizio Ciciliano, explained that the planning has been made considering a base of 500 thousand presences, which can be adjusted according to the actual arrivals. More than 20 thousand places will be made available for the solidarity reception at the Nuova Fiera di Roma, and other spaces between schools, parishes, as well as gazebos and tents in the most crowded areas. Health helicopters will be activated between Tor Vergata and Nuova Fiera di Roma, with 12 extraordinary health emergency points.

A machine that "works", did not hesitate to say Monsignor Rino Fisichella, pro prefect of the dicastery for Evangelisation, and that makes him feel serene "knowing that thousands of young people will arrive", from all over the world. Among them will also be a delegation of Palestinian youths, from Bethlehem, for an event that will unite all countries and all languages, where the welcome will be "global", but above all, as has been repeatedly said, "effective and efficient".
