Tutti a Santa Cecilia", the educational-dissemination programme that every year involves thousands of students, teachers and families in a rich musical experience, is back. Thus is renewed, with the 2025-2026 season, the commitment of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in the promotion of musical culture through new projects and consolidating its best-loved proposals. With a particularly inclusive and family-friendly focus: concerts for children and their parents have been specially included on Sundays, in order to offer a season that meets the needs of its audience.
Biscardi: bringing more people closer to music
Every age group is covered, from infancy to secondary school, to encourage active listening and sharing by involving the participants personally. "The Academy is also involved in educating the public, and could not do otherwise in its endeavour to bring more and more people closer to music. We are doing our part, and the attendance response to our educational offer is very good indeed," reports President-Superintendent of the Academy Massimo Biscardi presenting the initiative. The first event will enrich the appointments linked to the opening of the Santa Cecilia concert season: it is, in fact, the workshop "To the Rhythm of the Valkyries", an interactive experience combining music, movement and art inspired by the history and music of Wagner's opera. The workshop is designed for the 5-10 age group. The appointment is in the Sala Coro on Sunday 19 October, then the season will continue with a rich calendar.
Smaller workshops
.The Baby Sound programme is aimed at the youngest age groups, from 0 to 2 years old, and pregnant women. It consists of music workshops and immersive concerts, with appointments on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. The same proposal is also aimed at the 3-5 age group in a more dynamic formula that can stimulate movement and encourage active listening and participation. Children will be surrounded by the artists in an intimate and engaging atmosphere and will be able to take part in the performance. Tutti a Santa Cecilia... is a sound journey into the world of the instruments that make up a symphony orchestra through interactive workshops led by Laura de Mariassevich and aimed at children aged 6 to 10 and 11 and up. Each event will be dedicated to a different instrument, from piano to percussion, and participants will be able to experience the history, timbre and rhythm of these instruments live. "The orchestra is a perfect symbol of a balanced society. The child is taught that he must listen, wait his turn, not prevaricate. You don't tell him, you make him play in the orchestra and he applies everything because that is where he has to put his skills. Together with others,' explains de Mariassevich, who coordinates the Academy's educational activities.
Recounting and cinema
.The public's favourite Musical Shows are back, such as Pierino, the Wolf... and the Magic of the Holidays with Stefano Fresi, in the role of narrator, who will join the Academy's JuniOrchestra to guide families through the musical tale. But also Ciak, si suona!, a show in which cinema and music intertwine, with projections of stills from the best-loved films in the history of cinema. Each show is designed for different age groups. The JuniOrchestra also continues its activities, with its orchestras of young musicians directed by Simone Genuini and divided by age group: the JuniOrchestra Baby, Kids, Teen and Young. Among the many events is the Concert for the Polyclinic, which every year sees the orchestra playing a leading role in giving notes of hope to less fortunate children.
Listening to the protagonists
.The Great Performers encounters offer the opportunity to listen live to the great protagonists of today's music, from Sollima to Campanella, who, accompanied by the JuniOrchestra, will perform in concerts aimed at an audience aged 10 and up. Each concert will also be introduced by a short guide that will make listening more enjoyable and more conscious. For music-oriented middle schools, a masterclass with Andrea Oliva, first flute of the Orchestra di Santa Cecilia, is planned as part of the Insieme per suonare programme, a lesson-concert held with the participation of a JuniOrchestra ensemble. The Music and Literature meetings are among the absolute novelties of this season. These are encounters/performances in which authors of the Accademia's audio-books (aimed at children) will talk together with musicians, in a narration enhanced by live sound interventions. The Listening Rehearsals, aimed at schools, will be enriched this year, thanks to Angelini Industries, by a special introduction to listening project designed especially for young people. A unique opportunity to attend the rehearsals of the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and discover first-hand the work behind the preparation of a concert.
