Allianz and Rai tell the road to Milan-Cortina: the docuseries about the Azzurri kicks off
'Sognando Milano Cortina 2026. On the shoulders of the Giants': six episodes with young athletes and parathletes joined by the great legends of Italian winter sports
From 20 December, Rai 2's Saturday takes a foretaste of the Olympics. On air is 'Sognando Milano Cortina 2026. Sulle spalle dei Giganti' (Dreaming of Milan Cortina 2026. On the shoulders of the Giants), the docuseries devised by Allianz together with public TV, will be broadcast: six episodes, six stories of Italian athletes and paratriathletes who are looking at the 2026 Winter Games as a summit to be climbed, knowing that they are not alone.
It is a tale that walks on two time frames: the present that demands effort and discipline, and the past that weighs like a shining legacy. Alongside the young protagonists - Sara Conti, Nicolò Macii, Nikolaj Memola, Giuseppe Romele, Martina Valcepina and Martina Vozza - there are six 'giants' of Italian sport, legends who have already known the warmth of medals: Paolo De Chiesa, Barbara Fusar Poli, Kristian Ghedina, Maurizio Margaglio, Francesca Porcellato and Cristian Zorzi.
The series, produced with Dentsu Sport and Yam 112003, does not seek hagiography. It prefers the plot: archive images that dialogue with the present, athletic gestures that alternate with domestic silences, the tension of competition and the fragility of waiting. Twenty-five minutes per episode to tell that sport, even before the result, is a biography in motion.
Giacomo Campora, CEO of Allianz, says this without rhetoric: "The new television production reveals the stories of six great Italian athletes who are preparing for the 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Milan Cortina, supported by six giants who have made the history of Italian sport. Behind the docuseries is a strategy that combines storytelling and institution. Allianz is a worldwide insurance partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Movements, and in Italy it supports Coni, Cip, Italia Team and Fiamme Oro. It is no coincidence that the Allianz Tower in Milan houses the Milan Cortina 2026 Foundation and will be the Milan headquarters of the Italian Paralympic House.
Programming: every Saturday at 7pm on Rai 2, from 20 December to 24 January, with evening repeats on Rai Sport and streaming on RaiPlay. Closing the circle, on 31 January, is a 45-minute documentary that brings together the most intense portraits of this journey towards the Games.
