Along the Georgian road in Limerick
From Killarney, it takes two and a half hours to reach the city of Limerick, situated on the banks of the River Shannon, which meets the Wild Atlantic Way here. It boasts an elegant Georgian street that leads to one of Ireland's most charming medieval quarters, making it a must-see destination. King John's Castle, for example, is a 13th-century fortress that offers an interactive look into Limerick's past and an epic view of the river. Also worth visiting are pubs such as the old The Locke Bar (dating back to 1724), the historic St Mary's Cathedral or the Hunt Museum, which houses an impressive collection of Irish and international art and artefacts. For a change of pace, you can take the Three Bridges Walking Route along the riverbank.
