Walking trails, panoramic views, ancient villages: all the magic of summer in the Gulf of the Poets
In Lavaggiorosso, to savour the delights of Ligurian cuisine
Finally, the climb from Levanto to Lavaggiorosso is less demanding and best undertaken in the late afternoon; it takes about an hour’s walk along the path that runs alongside the stream through the dense woodland. Once you reach the vicinity of the B&B Il Ghiro (where you stay in a former mill nestled amongst the greenery), you continue uphill for about 15 minutes along the tarmac road (the path is rather difficult to navigate in its final section) and arrive at this small, picturesque hamlet perched on the hill with a spectacular view over the valley. The highlight not to be missed, apart from snapping a few photos amongst the village’s tiny alleyways, is a traditional dinner of homemade pasta and tortelli, served with Ligurian-style rabbit at Antiga Ustaia Zita.
