Beyond Urban Boundaries

The gaze stretches far beyond the city limits: along the 60 km of the estuary, following the course of the Loire towards Saint-Nazaire, one encounters an artistic route boasting 33 monumental installations where the river embraces the ocean in a landscape of rare beauty, thanks to its environmental and heritage riches. There are several works in the permanent collection along this route, from Tatzu Nishi's Villa Cheminée, an eccentric hotel on top of a chimney, to Huang Yong Ping's 130-metre-long Serpent d'Océan, which has become a symbol of creativity, mythology and marine life.
