Utility bills decree, how the 115 euro social bonus works
According to the government report, it will reach 2.64 million households, those already receiving the social bonus (which can be added to the utility bill bonus)
Five billion in aid. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni quantified in this way the benefits coming with the energy decree, approved Wednesday afternoon in the Council of Ministers. Which, with implementing decrees and the operational indications of Arera, will intervene on several fronts to lighten the energy costs of families and businesses.
The electricity bonus to be added to the social bonus
The heart of the measure is in Article 1, which introduces from 2026 an annual EUR 115 electricity bonus for households with Isee up to EUR 10,000 (20,000 with at least four children). According to the government report, it will reach 2.64 million households, those already entitled to the social bonus. Those who receive the latter bonus do not have to choose between the two contributions because they are added together.
The voluntary discount
In addition, the decree opens up the possibility of 'a voluntary discount of at least EUR 60 per year for families with an Isee up to EUR 25,000 and who do not qualify for the social bonus,' as Meloni explained. These are extraordinary contributions recognised by vendors to customers
