The national welfare and assistance organisation for biologists (Enpab) closed its 2025 financial statements with a net worth of €153 million, an operating profit of €1.33 million and total assets of €1.246 billion.
The positive trend of the profession's indicators is also confirmed in 2025: the number of members is close to 20,000, and the average income confirms an upward trend over the five-year period, rising from EUR 20,953 in 2019 to over EUR 22,000 in 2024.
Self-employed female biologists have recorded income growth of over 28% in the last five years, growth that somewhat reduces the gender gap compared to their male colleagues. "The results of the 2025 budget," comments Enpab president Tiziana Stallone, "confirm the solidity of our pension institution and the consistency of the choices made. In a complex international scenario, we have continued to invest in a model that puts the professional at the centre, strengthening the link between welfare, work and welfare'.
In 2025 Enpab invested EUR 3 million in assistance and welfare measures. Among the main active welfare measures, the organisation strengthened its training offerings with free Fad Ecm (Distance Learning - Continuing Medical Education), flanked by webinars and technical courses, and further developed field training in clinical contexts with a high professionalising value. Enpab has carried out a series of initiatives to promote and publicise the figure of the biologist, including the "National Day of the Professional Biologist", now in its eleventh edition, which involved over 600 biologists in 19 Italian squares, reaching more than 10,000 citizens, and the Memorandum of Understanding signed with Roma Capitale on the themes of prevention, nutrition and sustainability.
On the benefits front, 501 maternity support benefits were paid in 2025, totalling more than EUR 3.6 million, with an average amount of around EUR 8,047.
