Strolling around Glasgow between bookshop tours, Art Nouveau buildings and beautiful galleries
At the centre of the gastronomic scene
The Merchant City Stroll is a guided walking tour that immerses visitors in Glasgow's vibrant culinary scene, exploring the historic Merchant City and the East End. The tour, which is designed to commemorate 850 years, takes in six unique locations and offers a taste of locally sourced Scottish food and drink, while sharing insights into the area's rich history and culture. Another itinerary that focuses on the taste buds, launched a few months ago, is the Taste the Place, a flavour-packed adventure that focuses on free self-guided dining experiences that celebrate Glasgow's culinary scene. A digital map highlighting over 40 restaurants across the city is also available to tourists.
Highlights include a 100-year-old ice cream parlour beloved of local celebrities, the city's oldest sweet shop, an Italian bistro housed in the only remaining tram shelter in the UK, and South Asian street food served by a small diner.
