Circular economy, increasing collection of electrical waste
In the first nine months of the year it grew by 2.4% or 6,334 tonnes more waste than in the same period of 2024
The trend is positive: in the first nine months of this year the collection of electrical and electronic waste increased compared to the same period last year by 2.4% and 6,334 tonnes more waste was collected, contributing to the total of 270,684 tonnes.
Certifying the figure is the Centro coordinamento Raee, a consortium of private nature participated by 14 Collective Systems of electrical and electronic equipment manufacturers and a reference point for the entire sector.
The numbers
The greatest growth, as the report shows, concerns "grouping 4 - IT, consumer electronics and Ped with +5.8%". Positive trend with more than 3,533 tonnes more than in the first nine months of 2024. The collection of other waste, the so-called R1 and R2 "temperature exchange equipment with fluids, also grew, with +3.7% and +3.3% respectively, amounting to 3,353 tonnes more for grouping 2 and 2,607 more for grouping 1". Light sources (waste R5) recorded a negative figure with -3.3% and TVs and monitors (waste R3) with -9.7%.
The Territory
The number of outlets in Italy is also growing: there are 15,799 registrations on the WEEE Coordination Centre portal.
Looking at the territories, we go from 33 registered points of sale in Valle d'Aosta to 2,892 in Lombardy. 'Nationally, there are 27 registered points of sale per 100,000 inhabitants, with the highest values in Liguria and Molise, respectively 40 and 39 points of sale per 100,000 inhabitants, and the lowest value in Campania, with 12 points per 100,000 inhabitants.
