It starts at EUR 29.99 per month to get the entire Serie A (and other leagues as well). But then the formulas are different. There are seven different price plans offered by Dazn and Sky, i.e. the holders of the audiovisual rights to Serie A for the next five seasons, starting with the one starting in August. Considering the various payment methods (lump sum, with bond, without bond), there are at least fifteen alternative possibilities. To which must be added the three options offered by Timvision, which has an agreement with Dazn and acts as an aggregator. All told, there are just under twenty options for Italian football fans to choose from.

The approach of the start of the new championship is also the time of choices (for consumers) and expectations (for operators who will have an important thermometer of the appeal of their offers from the summer campaign). The players have positioned themselves and now it is time to go. With the price list adjustments that have triggered some protests. The coming weeks will show the real tenor.

Up to 70 euros for Serie A

.

The season is also getting ready to start with the adjustments to the price list, most of which were already made official in January by Dazn, which is the pivot of Serie A, having taken over the audiovisual rights for all matches: 10 per week. In these days, announcements are arriving regarding the increase of monthly plans (month by month, no strings attached). And, in this case, for Serie A the maximum price comes to EUR 69.99 per month. This is if you choose the Dazn Plus plan: the one that allows simultaneous viewing on two devices even on different internet lines. But there is also a way to manage with the various offers and pay lower amounts. For example, the Standard plan with annual payment in advance costs the same as in 2021.

Dazn: the Start

plan

Getting to the bottom of the price lists, the least expensive plan - but one that does not have Serie A as part of its offer - is the 'Start' plan. For the new annual plan with payment in 12 instalments, a change from a monthly cost of EUR 9.99 to EUR 11.99 per month (+20%) was announced in January. In the end, one will pay EUR 24 more per year: from EUR 120 to EUR 144. On the other hand, those who want to retain the flexibility to cancel with 30 days notice will pay €14.99 per month. The Annual plan for Dazn Start costs, with payment in a lump sum, 99.99 euros.

The Standard Plan

.

The Standard plan, says the Dazn website, is 'the best-selling'. It is the one that allows you to watch Serie A, La Liga and the entire Dazn sports offer (including basketball and volleyball) on two devices using the same internet line. The deferred annual plan, with a minimum stay of 12 months, provides for 12 monthly instalments of €34.99 per month, compared to the previous cost of €30.99, or €420 per year. The annual plan with one-off prepayment is also possible, which costs EUR 359 or EUR 29.99 per month. Those who instead want to retain the flexibility of cancelling with 30 days' notice, the monthly cost is EUR 44.99 (compared to the EUR 40.99 still announced in the January price list).

The Plus Plan

.

The new Plus is the one that allows simultaneous viewing of two devices even on different Internet lines. This plan has a higher price resulting from the choice made at the time to intervene on the distortions of the so-called 'concurrency'. In this case, the lump sum payment in January increased to EUR 539 (EUR 44.92 per month, in practice this is the same as EUR 22.46 per single access to a different network), with the annual plan with payment in 12 monthly instalments at EUR 49.99 per month (EUR 24.99 per single access to a different network). The monthly plan with the flexibility to cancel with 30 days' notice is instead available at EUR 69.99 per month (EUR 34.99 per individual access to a different network), up from EUR 59.99 until January for new customers.

Sky and the bet on European cups

.

Sky went into the auction for Serie A rights with the audiovisual rights of the three European competitions in its pocket. No official figures have ever been given, but rumours circulated in 2023, the year of allocation, indicated an outlay of around €660 million for the TV rights to the Champions League (185 matches out of 203 per season), Europa League and Conference League for the next three-year cycle from 2024 to 2027. In recent weeks, the Comcast media company led in Italy by Andrea Duilio decided to go all-in: no matches of Italian clubs in the Champions League on free-to-air. Foreign club matches will be able to go on Tv8, the group's free network. But to see the Italian matches it will be necessary to switch to pay-TV.

The new Champions formula

.

All this at a particular time, since the new Champions League formula will start from the 2024-2025 season: it will be played 11 months out of 12 and the matches will be a total of 47% more than in previous editions, with the number of teams participating in the final phase rising from 32 to 36, all in a single group. There will be eight Italian teams in Europe: five in the Champions League (Inter; Milan; Juventus; Atalanta and Bologna); two in the Europa League (Roma and Lazio) and one in the Conference (Fiorentina). And to see them you will need to subscribe.

Sky's dowry on Serie A

.

As for Serie A, Sky has co-exclusive three out of ten matches per week. A formula, according to rumours, costing 200 million per year to be paid to the clubs of the top league, but with a wider choice of top matches compared to the previous and just concluded three-year period (in which Sky always had three matches per week available on a co-exclusive basis with Dazn)

Sky's offers on Serie A and European cups

.

Sky offers a Sky TV+Sport+Football package for €45.80 per month (with an 18-month tie-up). You will therefore have Sky's sports and football offer, but also Sky series and entertainment and Sky Stream, with two simultaneous accesses (TV and Sky Go)

European cups only

.

Another solution may be Sky TV (Sky series and shows) + Sky Sport at 37.80 euros per month (with an 18-month tie-in). In this house, Serie A is missing (present with the football package), but you will have the European cups with the Champions League (185 exclusive matches out of 203 per season), the entire Europa League and the Conference League. The rest of the sport ranges from Formula 1 to Moto GP, tennis (with Wimbledon exclusively until 2026, the Atp Tour and Wta Tour tournaments, including the Nitto Atp Finals and Wta Finals, until 2028 and the 2024 Davis Cup) to Nba and more.

Serie A and foreign leagues

The Sky TV package (Sky series and shows) + Sky Calcio at 22.90 euros per month (with an 18-month tie) is the one that allows, on the sporting side, to have at your disposal the Serie A Enilive (from this year it will be called this with Tim having left the place of main sponsor) with 3 matches out of 10 for each round for the 2024-2029 cycle and at least 30 of the best 76 matches of the championship; the entire Serie C; the English Premier League with the best challenges exclusively until the 2027/2028 season and the Bundesliga with the best challenges exclusively until the 2024/2025 season.

The Now Offer

For some time, Sky has also had Now, the group's Ott platform. In this case, the Sports pass requires payment of 14.99 euros per month with a minimum stay of 12 months, or 24.99 euros per month with no stay. To this it is possible to add the Premium option (5 euros more per month) for viewing on two devices at the same time, on demand without advertising interruptions.

Timvision and Dazn

In March, Dazn and Tim closed a new deal to allow the Timvision platform to host the non-exclusive Dazn app with all its content, including Serie A with all 10 weekly matches. And this until 2029. The one chosen by Dazn is a 'wholesale' model that envisages a fixed entry fee for each individual sports season (rumours in recent months indicated a figure to be paid by Tim of just under 50 million) and a variable one, for the distribution of the service and linked to the number of customers. For Tim and Dazn, it is also a new beginning in the commercial relationship after starting out with an exclusive, but lasting only one year, 2021, only to be revised in 2022 by the current ad Pietro Labriola (initially the incumbent's commitment was 340 million per year).

The Serie A offering via Timvision Football and Sport

.

For those who would like to choose a "provider" other than Dazn or Sky, on the market today is the "TimVision Calcio e Sport" offer, which allows you to experience all the football and sport on Dazn, but also the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on the 14 Eurosport channels, the Tour de France, La Vuelta, other sporting events and entertainment on Timvision, as well as Disney+ and Infinity+ content. Until 5 August the promotion is €19.99 per month for the first three months, then rising to €34.99 per month, with the first month offered by Tim. This is with Dazn's Standard plan. With the Plus plan (the one that allows simultaneous viewing on two devices even on different internet lines) the promotion is €44.99 per month for three months and then €59.99, with the first month offered by Tim. The two plans both have a 12-month tie-up. For those who do not want to have ties and can cancel when they want, the price is 30.99 euros per month for three months and then 40.99 euros.
