Bills, electricity +8.1% for vulnerable customers in Q2

In the second quarter of 2026, the electricity bill for the vulnerable 'typical customer' served by the Majority Protection System will increase by 8.1%.
Area made this known, specifying in a note that 'the update only concerns the 3 million or so vulnerable customers currently served in 'Maggior Tutela' and recalling that all vulnerable customers in the free market have the right to switch to Maggior Tutela'.
"The uncertainty over the duration of the conflict in the Middle East has caused an unexpected rise in the prices of energy products on the international markets with a direct fallout on electricity bills," Arera explains, "where the increase in energy expenditure is only partially offset by a 2.2 per cent reduction in the dispatch price (Pd). Currently, the system charges component remains unchanged, thanks to an optimised management of currently available liquidity'.
"In addition," he continues, "in implementation of the DL Bollette, the Authority has provided for a reduction in the rate applied to the energy withdrawn of the Asos tariff component for non-domestic (non-energy users).
The annual expenditure for the vulnerable typical user under the 'Maggior Tutela' regime will stand at EUR 589.34 in the period between 1 July 2025 and 30 June 2026, an increase of 4.5% compared to the EUR 563.76 recorded in the previous period (1 July 2024 - 30 June 2025).
