The Enac board of directors today approved a resolution that callows the carriage of pets in the cabin even beyond the current limit of 8-10 kg (depending on the company).
Enac chairman Pierluigi Di Palma welcomes the board's resolution: 'Enac's ability, as the national civil aviation authority, is confirmed, also on the basis of a specific address by the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini, to open up regulatory solutions that, while fully respecting flight safety, at the same time respond to new social needs, facilitating the transport of pets by air to a greater number of passengers.
Animals even above the seats
.The new rules, drawn up by the National Civil Aviation Authority, allow airlines to adopt dedicated procedures: animals must be housed in approved carriers, which can also be positioned above the seats, without obstructing emergency exits or the crew's operations, guaranteeing their well-being.
Containers will have to be secured with belts or specific anchoring systems. A measure that intercepts a change in travellers' needs and makes air transport more pet-friendly.
