Appeal to the Court of Re-examination: former prosecutor Venditti's defence against search
Mario Venditti's lawyer is challenging the search order in the corruption investigation, claiming distortions in the request by the Brescia Public Prosecutor's Office.
The lawyer Domenico Aiello, defending the former Pavia prosecutor, Mario Venditti, has filed an appeal with the Court of Re-examination against the search and seizure order executed last Friday - on 26 September - as part of the Brescia Public Prosecutor's Office investigation, which alleges that the now-retired magistrate is guilty of corruption in judicial proceedings: According to the prosecution, he allegedly received money to exonerate Andrea Sempio, who is again under investigation by the Pavia prosecutors for the murder of Chiara Poggi. In the appeal, sent a short while ago, the lawyer speaks of 'distortion' of the prosecutor's function.
The indictment of Mario Venditti
Former Pavia deputy public prosecutor Mario Venditti is under investigation for corruption in judicial acts pbecause he allegedly favoured the dismissal in 2017 of Andrea Sempio, who was again charged with the murder of Chiara Poggi.
The Brescia Public Prosecutor's Office claims that there were suspicious movements between Sempio's family members (not under investigation) and the former magistrate:the amount of the alleged bribery is around - according to the search decree - between 20-30 thousand euro; cash that was allegedly taken to pay the lawyers is instead the Sempio defence.
The public prosecutor's act refers to transfers, opaque dealings and forgotten chats and the re-examination will be used to uncover the cards, i.e. to reveal whether there are other elements (not mentioned in the decree) against Venditti.
