Unesco heritage monuments in Arles

In October, the monuments that have contributed to making Arles a capital of culture are on stage. They will be presented in a new light, including initiatives, music and discovery, dance, shadow theatre, comedy and many other artistic interventions that will come to life in the historical sites, the

six monuments classified as Unesco heritage sites. Not to forget, then, that Arles was also Vincent Van Gogh's favourite retreat, where he created so many works and where he lived with his friend Gauguin. Arles is also a paradise for open-air activities, from hiking to discovery walks in the heart of the area, but it is at the same time a forward-looking location, where you can find electric tricycles from Taco and Co., which offers a transport service in the city centre and guided tours in several languages. Another special feature of the city, for the more curious spirits, is the fact that it has become an open platform for entrepreneurs and artisans committed to the circular economy and sustainable development. A few examples? The PeeKeep toilets that turn urine into fertiliser, the Décaperie Arlésienne that gives a second life to old furniture using an ecological process, or Miki Nectoux, founder of the Dinette app (a dishwashing service with storage used by several restaurants in Arles) and finally Hopla, another player in soft mobility in the city centre, which has a free electric bicycle shuttle that runs all year round for environmentally friendly travel. Among other things, under the Accueil Vélo Arles brand there are some 20 accommodation facilities, activity providers and restaurants with a focus on sports tourism, while the Clef Verte brand is the first international sustainable tourism label for accommodation and catering facilities committed to smart waste management, water and energy consumption control, an initiative that the local tourist office is actively promoting.
