Gazprom: Ukraine has struck the Blue Stream gas pipeline. Russian missiles hit Kyiv and other cities: 6 dead
“The enemy is attacking the capital with ballistic missiles. Stay in the shelters!” wrote Mayor Vitali Klitschko
Russian ballistic missiles are striking Ukrainian cities. Meanwhile, drones from Kyiv are targeting strategic Russian infrastructure. Whilst Kyiv assesses the damage and casualties caused by the missiles launched by Moscow, the Russian energy giant Gazprom reported this morning a drone attack on the Krasnodarskaya compressor station, part of the Blue Stream gas pipeline infrastructure that supplies Turkey.
“On 7 July, at 19:51 local time, the Krasnodarskaya compressor station, which forms part of the infrastructure for the supply of Russian gas via the Blue Stream pipeline, was attacked by unmanned aerial vehicles,” a statement said.
A series of explosions rocked Kyiv in the early hours of today, as Russia continues its barrage of attacks on the Ukrainian capital, coinciding with the NATO summit in Turkey. A first, powerful explosion was heard even before the city’s air-raid sirens sounded, followed by four more. A woman was found dead under the rubble of a building.
The mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, has stated that several warehouses in one neighbourhood caught fire following a missile attack, and that another ‘non-residential building’ was ablaze. “The enemy is attacking the capital with ballistic missiles. Stay in the shelters!”, Klitschko wrote on social media.
It is not only the capital, but also Kharkiv – in north-eastern Ukraine – that is under Russian attack. A missile strike has hit a five-storey residential building. Two deaths have been confirmed so far. On Telegram, the city’s mayor, Igor Terekhov, reported that people are suffering from an ‘acute stress reaction’ following the attack, which damaged more than 20 homes.
