Sweet travel booklet with the first Panettone
Giotti's artistic rose window and the white cities in Barese
Master Nicola Giotti's panettone is a tribute to the beauty of Puglia's rose windows, a candidate for UNESCO World Heritage recognition. Appreciated for his artistic and aesthetic sensibility, he has created with an almond shortbread an acorn ring that meticulously reproduces the iconic architectural structure of the unmistakable façade of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in his Giovinazzo. He has set it on a leavened dough rich in the distinctive flavours of the region: Ogliarola EVO oil, Ferrovia di Turi cherries, fig vin cotto and orange peel. It is a sensory journey that prepares the soul to explore the architectural and scenic beauty of an area that is spectacular in winter. We begin at the splendid rose window of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, then willingly 'get lost' in the meanders of this village, all reflected in the sea, and wander through the alleyways before emerging in front of the splendid Triton Fountain. Conquered by the dazzling reflections of the stone of northern Barese, you can choose to stay in the room of the Loggiato del Duca in Bitonto, which overlooks the most beautiful rose window in all of Apulia, that of the Co-Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, and then reach the Girolamo and Rosaria Devanna Gallery where you can admire works by Titian, Veronese, Man Ray and Balla. Once again guided by the palate, one continues to Trani, where two renowned restaurants, Quintessenza and Casa Sgarra, elevate the flavours of Puglia. Finally, you can enjoy the ecstatic experience offered by the local, magnificent Cathedral 'suspended' between the sky and the sea, and conclude this journey amidst plays of light and shadow among the dizzying walkways of the Swabian Castle.
