The new Highway Code tries to drastically reduce phone use while driving. How? Not by increasing controls and prevention but by tightening penalties. In fact, if you are caught using your phone while behind the wheel, your licence will be withdrawn for a week if you have between 11 and 19 points on your licence; this suspension becomes 15 days if you have less than 10 points. From 250 euros to 1,697 euros and suspension of the licence from 15 days to 2 months (today it is from 165 euros to 660 euros) for the first offence. From 350 euros to 2,588 euros and licence suspension from 1 to 3 months and the deduction of 8 to 10 points in the event of a repeat offence.
How, then, to use your phone while driving without the risk of being fined or being without a licence?

Connect your phone to the car via Bluetooth
.Although this may seem obvious, one only has to travel on the road to observe how many drivers use their smartphones while driving to make calls. A risk to safety, and to the wallet, despite the possibility on most vehicles to connect the phone to the car via Bluetooth connection. And in case you drive an older car without this type of connection, and screens in the dashboard, bluetooth transmitters powered via the cigarette lighter socket (the 12V) can be found on the web for less than 20 euros.
Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
Another solution comes from the presence of the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay protocols already present in the car used daily. In this case, all you have to do is connect your smartphone via cable or Bluetooth to the car and a good part of your phone's applications, starting with those dedicated to navigation, will be replicated on the car's screen. Even in this case, there are accessories that can replicate the two systems on external schemes or modules to display them on the on-board infotainment system.
