"Confagricoltura confirms its commitment to European planning, focusing on the competitiveness, cohesion and resilience of agricultural enterprises". This was stated in a note issued by the association, whose Planning Office presented two initiatives - 'Eco Ready' and 'Vision4Food' - financed by the Horizon Europe Framework Programme, Europe's main instrument for research and innovation (with an endowment of about EUR 175 billion planned for the period 2028-2034) at the Rimini Meeting.

Eco-Ready - explains Confagricoltura - enhances food security thanks to a digital platform that collects real-time data on climate, crops, and natural resource availability. The information is processed within experimental laboratories (so-called 'living labs') where agricultural companies, academia and institutions come together to test new solutions for businesses and develop strategies for adapting to climate change in different areas of Europe.

Vision4Food is instead a project that started in January 2025 and is based on networking and governance of agricultural systems. More specifically, it promotes new models of agrifood policies in Europe, i.e. shared strategies and careful decision-making by the whole of society: at the centre are the Food Innovation Platforms that unite universities, companies, institutions and farmers to identify and disseminate best practices in the different European areas.

"In times of uncertain geo-political frameworks and scarce resources," explained Michele Contel, senior project manager of the Planning Office, "the pooling of technologies and collaborations between research, companies, territories and institutions is a key lever to bring the agricultural world back to the centre of the agenda.

"With the EU-funded projects (Horizon and Erasmus+) Confagricoltura offers companies learning opportunities at no cost through e-learning platforms or workshops in the field, while also giving voice to testimonies and proposals," Confagricoltura further explains.

"We need tools for analysing and forecasting the evolution of markets and the availability of natural resources," emphasises Daniele Rossi, Confagricoltura's Research and Innovation delegate and head of the Planning Office, "that allow Europe to act in time, to guarantee food security and support a resilient and competitive agriculture.
