Lando Norris, born on 13 November 1999, began his career in karts, an obligatory path for any Formula 1 talent. In 2015 he came to the fore by winning the British Formula 4 championship, while 2016 was the year of confirmation: he took part in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and the Formula Renault 2.0 NEC, dominating both categories. The following year, he landed in the European Formula 3 with the Carlin Motorsport team, where he achieved excellent results: 8 wins and 20 podiums out of 30 races earned him the title.

In February 2017 Norris joined McLaren's youth programme. He made his Formula 2 debut with Carlin: victory on his debut in Bahrain and second place in the championship, behind George Russell.

In 2019, at only 19 years of age, he made his Formula 1 debut as an official McLaren driver. His first season in the top series ends with an honourable 11th place, without any particular highlights. From then on, his growth was steady, but he had to wait six years for his first victory, which came at the Miami Grand Prix in 2024. Last year was the first season in which Lando was able to really fight for the top, although he was unable to maximise his results in the second half of the year, just when Verstappen's Red Bull was showing the first signs of breaking down.

For Lando, idol of Generation Z, the title in Abu Dhabi would be secure in the event of a podium finish, making the results of his rivals irrelevant.
