On Elba Island for the Tagliagambe
On 20 June, the Tagliagambe returns to Elba Island: the historic hill climb from Marciana Marina to Monte Perone. Organised by A.S.D. Marciana Marina, the event — which is non-competitive and open to all — brings one of the most eagerly awaited sporting events of the summer season back to the Island of Elba: 9 kilometres of pure ascent, 600 metres of elevation gain, gradients reaching 14%, and those breathtaking views that unfold amidst the exertion and shortness of breath, along a route that tests the legs and character of cyclists and runners alike. It won’t just be the race, as the organisers are working on various side events to accompany race day and enrich the experience for athletes, supporters and spectators alike. There will also be a race dedicated to electric bikes (e-bikes), with a separate start: an extra opportunity to experience the climb up Monte Perone, with no one left out. And then the next day, everyone can go for a swim and a dip on the island’s beaches, of which there are many beautiful ones.
