4 ideas for the weekend
Taormina celebrates reading
Among the many events worth attending during a weekend in Taormina from 18 to 22 June 2026 is the 16th edition of Taobuk – Taormina International Book Festival, conceived and directed by Antonella Ferrara. Over 200 guests from 30 countries will gather in Taormina, which has long been a destination for distinguished artists and intellectuals and a symbol of Mediterranean culture. At the heart of this edition is the theme of Trust, “understood as an ethical foundation, as the generative force of civil coexistence, as a bet on tomorrow. But also a key word for exploring the relationship between human beings and knowledge, between truth and perception, between citizens and institutions, between the individual and technology”, reads a statement. Writers, philosophers, scientists and artists will be invited to reflect on what it means today to rely on others, to trust in an idea, to believe in science, to entrust one’s voice to the spoken word, one’s destiny to the community The festival, which for years has served as a tool for promoting cultural tourism under the auspices of the Sicilian Regional Government, promises to be particularly rich. The programme will run from 18 to 22 June, with a packed schedule of book launches, talks, debates, round tables, retrospectives, readings and performances across more than ten venues in the city, from 10am to 10pm each day. The highlight will be on the evening of 20 June in the beautiful theatre of Taormina
