Piedmont. Among the colours of the Rhododendron Basin at Oasi Zegna
From mid-May to the beginning of June, the Conca dei Rododendri (Rhododendron Basin), located at the gates of the Oasi Zegna, commissioned by Ermenegildo Zegna and designed in the 1950s by architect Pietro Porcinai, blossoms into a palette of reds, pinks, whites and purples, creating an evocative explosion of colours. The guided walks organised in collaboration with Over Alp's nature guides, are a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the discovery of this spectacle of nature. The dates of the accompanied walks to mark in your diary: from 23 May every Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and also Monday 1 and Tuesday 2 June also from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be six appointments during which nature guides will illustrate the phenomenon of flowering, accompanying visitors amidst marvellous floral specimens and open-air works of art such as Dan Graham's "Two Way Mirror/ Hedge Arabesque" created for the "All'Aperto" project promoted by Fondazione Zegna: an installation that, through differentiated refraction, envelops visitors in a play of reflections, multiplying their gazes on the surrounding landscape and the colours provided by the blossoms. On the occasion of Appointment in the Garden 2026, the national initiative promoted by APGI - Associazione Parchi e Giardini d'Italia, the Fondazione Zegna exceptionally opens to the public the Private Garden of Ermenegildo Zegna, a place that is normally not accessible and guardian of a historical, botanical and landscape heritage of extraordinary value.on Sunday 7 June, two special guided tours will be organised, at 11.30 am and 2.30 pm, to accompany visitors on a discovery of an intimate and evocative space, recently restored to its splendour thanks to an accurate philological intervention based on rigorous archival research and carried out in full respect of the original design and historical essences.the garden bears the signature of two great protagonists of 20th century landscape architecture: Otto Maraini and Pietro Porcinai.
