Putin and Zelensky ring Trump on his birthday and discuss the war
Putin and Trump have agreed that Witkoff and Kushner will return to Moscow soon
Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke to US President Donald Trump in a 55-minute phone call to mark Trump’s birthday, according to the Kremlin. During the call, Trump reiterated the need to end the war in Ukraine, Putin’s adviser Ushakov reported.
“The conversation focused on the situation regarding the memorandum of understanding currently being drafted between the United States and Iran. Donald Trump said that an agreement is close,” Ushakov told reporters. He then added that “it was agreed that the US President’s special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who are currently working on the Iran dossier, will return to Russia soon.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote this on Telegram following a phone call with the US President. “We discussed what might help bring peace closer now, and I briefed the President on the latest developments on the battlefield and how our position has strengthened. We agreed to discuss this further during our meeting at the G7 summit. We have some good ideas that could help bring peace closer and protect lives. Thank you!”, added the Ukrainian leader.
