Autonomist victory in the regional elections in Valle d'Aosta. The counting of the lists in the eight poles ended shortly after 5pm. The Union valdotaine is the first party with 31.9%, followed by the Autonomists of the Centre (14%). The outgoing majority - which barring any surprises will be confirmed - also includes the Pd with 8%. The united centre-right obtained 29.5%: Fratelli d'Italia is the first force with 10.9%, ahead of Forza Italia (10%). The League plummeted from 23.9% in 2020 to 8.3%. On the left, Avs-Rete civica also entered the Council with 6.3% (3 seats). Vda Aperta and Vda Futura did not reach the quorum. The turnout was 62.98% compared to 70.5% in the 2020 regional elections.
In Valle d'Aosta boom of the Union Valdotaine
.The Union valdotaine recorded an exploit compared to 15.2% five years ago. And it cashes in 12 seats. The Autonomists of the Centre get 6 seats and the PD 3 seats. The centre-right, united in coalition for the first time, obtained 11 seats (4 to Fratelli d'Italia and Forza Italia), only 3 seats to the League.
Uncertainty for the junta
.In the small Alpine region there is no direct election of the governor, who is elected by the renewed regional council (35 members) at its first meeting, in this case scheduled for the end of October. On the eve for the centre-right the favourite to occupy the president's chair was Alberto Zucchi, regional coordinator of Fratelli d'Italia, director and glue of the 'united centre-right' in Valle d'Aosta, an operation that was not easy given the proportional system. But the most probable scenario after the vote is a majority that is either only autonomist (Union valdotaine and Autonomists of the centre) or autonomist-progressive (with the support of the PD as well).
Seven regions on the ballot
There are seven regions where voting will take place this autumn: Calabria, Campania, Marche, Puglia, Tuscany, Valle d'Aosta and Veneto. It started with Valle d'Aosta on 28 September and Marche (28 and 29 September). Then it is the turn of Calabria (5 and 6 October) and Tuscany (12 and 13 October). In Campania, Veneto and Apulia, the dates chosen are 23 and 24 November. The outcome of the vote in the Marches and Valle d'Aosta may act as a driving force in the other territories.
