"Restaurants Against Hunger', so part of the bill can go to solidarity
The initiative kicking off on World Food Day will last until the end of the year
To coincide with the World Food Day on 16 October, the 11th edition of the national solidarity campaign "Restaurants Against Hunger" kicks off. The initiative, the brainchild of Action Against Hunger, a humanitarian organisation committed to guaranteeing every person the right to a life free from hunger, will close for the 2025 edition on 31 December.
Throughout the period, restaurants and chains participating in the initiative will be able to choose a solidarity dish or menu at a slightly increased price to help support Action Against Hunger projects. Chefs and restaurateurs will also be able to participate in various ways, organising a special evening or offering the Ferrari Trento Solidarity Bubbles, donating the proceeds to the campaign. The initiative will also be supported by the organisation of Super Solidarity dinners, organised by chefs and restaurateurs throughout Italy.
"Today in the world, 673 million people live in conditions of food insecurity and in many countries hunger is on the rise due to wars, climatic and economic crises. In Italy - declares Simone Garroni, director of Action Against Hunger - nearly 2.3 million families cannot afford adequate food. Faced with this reality, it is fundamental to continue to guarantee rapid responses in emergencies, but also to invest in the autonomy of people and communities, because only in this way is it possible to build lasting solutions. With Restaurants Against Hunger, even a dinner or a simple gesture can become a way to support our programmes in Italy and around the world and support those who do not have access to food. It is a way to actively participate in change and transform passion for food into solidarity".
Among the names of the 'historical' chef ambassadors are Enrico Crippa, Antonio Guida, Elio Sironi, Tommaso Arrigoni, Claudio Sadler, Cristina Bowerman, Mario Dalena and Vincenzo Florio, who have been joined by Norbert Niederkofler, Filippo La Mantia and Roberto Valbuzzi, and Anna Zhang, winner of Masterchef Italia 14.
