The Other Basilicata: workshops on experiences, nature and authentic roots
Ruoti, traditions and nature in the heart of the Apennines
It is one of those villages where the experience of visiting is built step by step, between an historic centre made up of alleyways and glimpses that reflect the stratification of a long history, a community still strongly rooted in its traditions, and soft hills and forests that form the backdrop. Walking through the heart of Ruoti is synonymous with stone portals, houses leaning against each other and small openings that suddenly open up onto the surrounding landscape. And it is a path that takes shape with the 'Ruoti Graphic Novel' project, an illustrated tale that accompanies the visitor between real places and narrative. The identity of Ruoti is then discovered at the table, where the cuisine is an expression of the local peasant culture among handmade pasta, artisanal salami and the fruits of the native Asprinio vine. Around the village, nature becomes an opportunity for experiences in reserved and silent environments such as the Abetina di Ruoti, and in others that lend themselves to a more open and dynamic enjoyment such as the Bosco Grande, with the small lakes of Scuro and Romito providing a contemplative backdrop. And finally the events, with festivals scheduled in August that fully express the sense of the Ruoti community, such as those dedicated to San Donato and San Rocco or Emigrant Day.
