Short rentals, 1 in 3 landlords do not know Cin

As of 1 January 2025, properties intended for short-term rent will have to display the Cin (National Identification Code), but are property owners ready? Only partially, so much so that, according to the survey commissioned by Facile.it to mUp Research and Norstat, 33% of respondents said they were not aware of this obligation, a figure corresponding to almost 230 thousand landlords.

The law was supposed to enter into force at the beginning of November and only a few days before that date came the postponement to 1 January.

Confirming that the situation is delicate is another fact that emerged from the survey: 44% of the owners who will have to display the Cin have not yet applied for it, while 33% have applied for it but have not yet received it. Data in hand, therefore, only 1 in 5 owners are ready for the new standard.

Taking a closer look at those who have not yet applied for Cin, it emerges that 30% of respondents said that they intend to do so soon, while 38% said that they first want to inform themselves about it and only then will they make a decision about what they will do with the business. As many as 9.3% of owners, some 30,000 people, said they would stop the business because 'it is becoming too complicated', a percentage that rises to nearly 14% among owners living in the South and the Islands.

Six per cent of the sample surveyed, i.e. 18,000 individuals, have no intention of applying for the code, but will still continue to operate despite not complying with the law.
