Sinner once again consecrated his greatness by winning the Shanghai tournament against Novak Djokovic 7-6, 6-3: it was his third Masters 1000 and seventh title of the year (after the Australian Open, Rotterdam, Miami, Halle, Cincinnati and Us Open). A really open match only in the first set, then Jannik closed the accounts in fluency under the eyes of Federer, Alcaraz and Ferrero sitting behind his team.
The match started with the two players going head-to-head, supported by the powerful and precise serve that sheltered them from the risk of break balls, until 6-6 when Sinner raised the level from the very first point: a fantastic backhand pass on his opponent's serve. The subsequent points lived up to that passer: he closed 7-4, with a heavy first ball, thus consolidating his ability to be relentless in the tiebreak (typical of the Serb, moreover).
From that moment on he managed the match safely, never conceding an opportunity to Djokovic to get back into the match and signing his victory with his eighth ace. In the end Sinner's winners will be 22, Nole's 12.
For the South Tyrolean it was the eighth final of the year (the only one lost was the one in Beijing with Carlos Alcaraz); Nole had already won in Shanghai four times and to the long list of his records (one for all: 24 Slams) he had added the Olympic gold medal won this year in Paris in a sensational final with Alcaraz. Today, however, he had no chance with the world number one, as he acknowledged in his speech after the match: "Jannik, you were too good today. You deserved this title."
