The new Lancia Gamma seen in the flesh. Here is the fourth car built at Melfi
Unveiled during the three-day outdoor event in Turin, it is based on the Peugeot 3008
The new Lancia Gamma made its public debut at the Turin Motor Show, ahead of the prices due to be revealed at the Paris Motor Show in October and its launch in 2027. Measuring 467 cm long, 189 cm wide and 166 cm high, the Gamma incorporates design elements introduced with the new generation of the Ypsilon, such as the lights comprising three slim light strips at both the front and rear. The side profile, meanwhile, is clean-lined with flush-fitting door handles, which improve aerodynamics, whilst the roof slopes down towards the rear.
Lancia Gamma, the interior
At the Turin motor show, the interior of the Lancia Gamma was also unveiled to the public; it features a cabin with personalised design elements and clear references to the styling introduced in the more compact Ypsilon. The most striking feature, common to both models, is the round centre console housing the wireless charging pad for smartphones. Overall, the cabin features a dashboard dominated by the multimedia system’s display, flanked by a digital instrument cluster. The two-spoke steering wheel bears the new Lancia logo and features integrated controls, whilst the seats are upholstered in a quilted fabric.
STLA Medium platform
Manufactured in Melfi alongside the Jeep Compass and its ‘French’ cousins, the DS N°7 and N°8, the new Lancia Gamma – the fourth model from the Stellantis Group built on the STLA Medium platform – the same as that of the Peugeot 3008 – which is, however, built in Sochaux – features one of the group’s most widely used engines: the 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo mild hybrid with 145 cv, paired with an automatic gearbox, offering a claimed range of over 1,000 km in total. This is likely to be the best-selling version in Italia as well.
The HF Integrale top
The other models on offer are electric; the first, with front-wheel drive, is the entry-level variant, delivering 230 cv and a claimed range of 540 km. The second is the Long Range dual-motor version, delivering 245 cv and capable of travelling over 740 km on a single charge. Finally, at the top of the range is the HF Integrale variant, featuring a twin-motor, all-wheel-drive system delivering 375 cv and promising a range of 675 km. All models feature specific details, including: a sports suspension, self-ventilating brakes and larger tyres.
We will have to wait until the Paris Motor Show, scheduled for early October, to find out the prices, whilst the car is due to go on sale in 2027.
