The small bucolic and gastronomic Eden of the Refuge in the Woods

You are greeted by the horse Frida and other colts with differently coloured eyes, by a docile and tame wild boar, by cheerful donkeys and cats. Above all, at Il Rifugio nel Bosco, nestled in the beech forests behind the high mountains of the Lucanian Apennines, one follows Mrs Anna as she prepares the cheeses, takes part in the cheese-making workshops, and enjoys walks in the spectacular nature surrounding the hamlet of Massa. Until lunch or snack time, Anna and her four children set the table, which is filled with fresh, delicious cheeses, especially ricotta and mozzarella, dishes of parmigiana and savoury pies, as well as characteristic casatielli, to the sound of the most famous melodies of Lucanian folklore music.
