The sublime cherries of Audierne and the high waves at Pointe du Raz

Lo spettacolare paesaggio di Pointe du Raz

Pointe du Raz, considered the western geographical end of France along with the neighbouring Pointe de Corsen, may also be the worthy final destination of this itinerary, stopping first, however, in Audierne, which is teeming with very tasty fruit and vegetable markets, and where it is possible to taste the succulent cherries these days, as well as the tasty sardines fished daily by the local boats. Maupassant, having arrived here, devoted himself to "contemplating the fury of the waters, seemingly convulsed in an uncontrollable rage". Certainly, there are excursions around Cap-Sizun, to the tip of the Millier, to the end of Beuzec and Brézellec. Just as the gorge known as the Enfer de Plogoff and the Baie des Trépassés should be discovered slowly by walkers and swimmers. But certainly also the medieval village of Pont-Croix where the houses are made of rough stones diluted by blue window frames and the ornithological reserve of Cap Sizun should be explored by sharpening the spirit of observation. It was precisely this predisposition of mind, after all, that guided Guy de Maupassant along this journey of oceanic adventures.
