Ukraine, Zelensky: agreement with the US for monthly missile deliveries, but they are not enough
However, the quantities envisaged are not sufficient to meet Kyiv’s needs
Key points
Ukraine has reached an agreement with the United States to receive US-made air defence missiles every month, but the quantities envisaged are not sufficient to meet Kyiv’s needs. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Belgrade, during a press conference with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
“Who has missiles and anti-ballistic systems? The manufacturer – first and foremost, the United States. Can they help us? We’re working on it. Will they supply us with missiles every month? Yes, we have agreements in place. Are they enough? No,” said Zelensky.
The Ukrainian Air Force has acknowledged that it failed to shoot down any of the missiles fired at the country on Tuesday and Friday nights. Zelensky had recently explained that the armed forces are unable to intercept certain ballistic missiles due to a shortage of ammunition for air defence systems.
Overnight alert
The air raid alert in the Ukrainian capital began during the night. This was followed by yet another Russian missile attack on residential areas. Three people, including a child, were killed during the Russian attacks on the outskirts of Kyiv. Damage has been reported at three locations in the town of Brovary, north-east of the capital, where falling debris struck several buildings, including residential properties, as reported on Telegram by the head of the regional military administration, Tymour Tkatchenko. ‘Three people were killed, including a child. Three others were injured, also including a child.’ According to Ukrainian authorities, the attack was carried out using ballistic missiles.
