Umbria: in Trevi to discover the area's excellence

Situated in the heart of the Spoleto valley, Trevi emerges from a silvery sea of over three hundred thousand olive trees, which surround the town, making the view from below unique and fascinating. The mediaeval walls, grafted onto earlier Roman ones, contain the built-up area, which, with its characteristic 'snail' shape, wraps around the slope of the hill. The entire area still preserves numerous traces of its ancient origins, from the remains of Roman walls to the numerous finds discovered in the flat area of Santa Maria di Pietrarossa. Strolling through the narrow streets and alleys of the historic centre, one immediately realises how Trevi is a small jewel that has maintained intact its medieval urban fabric, made up of churches, towers and palaces and made even more precious by the presence of monumental noble residences from the Renaissance period. Standing out among the rooftops is the dome of the Cathedral of Sant'Emiliano, which houses a beautiful 15th-century Baptismal Font, the Saint's relics and a splendid altar dedicated to the Holy Sacrament. Throughout 2025, a series of initiatives are planned in the Umbrian town that enhance local identity and excellence, with a special focus on agriculture and typical products. Among the best known events is one dedicated to the black celery of Trevi, recognised as a Slow Food presidium. The theme of oil will be developed through an itinerary that celebrates the beginning and end of production, with visits to olive groves and oil mills during the harvest, culminating in a large closing lunch that combines tradition and conviviality. Throughout the year, special attention will be paid to the mountains, with initiatives such as the collection of wild flowers for the San Giovanni water, which will take place as part of the traditional San Giovanni Fair, near the Pietra Rossa Church. There will also be events promoting local horticultural products, with experiences related to their cultivation and use.
