Eni is introducing a price cap of 2.19 euros for diesel and 1.99 euros for petrol from 28 September
The measure will last for at least a month, whilst the government has called a meeting with the refineries on 8 October to increase domestic production.

Eni has set a price cap on the price of fuel sold by Enilive at 2.19 euros per litre for diesel and 1.99 euros per litre for petrol (around 17 cents less than current average prices).
The price cap is linked to the current excise duty relief and will apply from 28 September, for an initial period of 30 days, with the possibility of extension until the end of the year, depending on market trends and supply conditions.
Urso and Pichetto call a meeting with refinery operators: increase production
Meanwhile, the Minister for Enterprise and ‘Made in Italy’, Adolfo Urso, and the Minister for the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto, have called a meeting for Thursday 8 October with companies operating in the refining sector and in the production of goods and derived products.
The aim, according to a statement, is “to assess how domestic refineries can increase production of key products in order to mitigate the effects of the current international situation on the country’s supply”.
In addition to UNEM (Unione energie per la mobilità), representatives from Sonatrach, Socar-IP, Iplom, KPI, Alma Petroli, Ludoil/Isab, Eni, Saras and Innovhub were invited to attend the meeting.
