From the Reggio Emilia Apennines to the plains along the River Po: 27 cycling routes

2/5Weekend

Between the water and Art Nouveau

Visit Emilia, Boschi di Carrega.

The journey can begin by following the blue thread of the rivers. The Stirone Cycle Route offers a journey through geological history and Art Nouveau charm: 42 kilometres linking the medieval village of Vigoleno to Fidenza and the Art Nouveau architecture of Salsomaggiore Terme. Not far away, the Taro Cycle Route crosses the river park of the same name, following in the footsteps of the pilgrims on the Via Francigena who used to stop at Oppiano. For those seeking shade, the woods of Carrega offer trails through centuries-old oak and chestnut groves, just a stone’s throw from Parma, where it is not uncommon to catch the eye of a roe deer.
