Food Valley Bike and the taste of the open road
In Emilia, however, cycling inevitably means sitting down to a meal. The Food Valley Bike route is perhaps the one that best encapsulates the local identity: 80 km from Parma to Busseto, taking in the haunts of Giuseppe Verdi and Giovannino Guareschi. You cycle with the promise of a stop to savour Zibello culatello or Palasone spalla cruda. The route is dotted with food museums: a constellation of stops dedicated to Parmigiano Reggiano (Soragna), prosciutto (Langhirano), tomatoes and pasta (Giarola). It is a sensory journey supported by a dedicated app that highlights every gastronomic gem along the route.
