Dimora Camille: where Africa meets Sicily

If Casa Talia embodies urban regeneration, Dimora Camille is the epitome of rural restoration. Situated in the countryside between Scicli and the sea, this ancient 19th-century farmhouse is the result of the collaboration between the vision of Sammi Coubeche – a citizen of the world with roots in Djibouti – and the creative genius of Viviana Haddad. The restoration, which took eight years, is an act of love and resilience. Here, Sicilian ‘pietra bionda’ (blonde stone) engages with African aesthetics: thatched roofs bound with twine aged in tea, cocciopesto floors, and a spectacular spa carved out of an ancient cistern hewn from the rock. The “garden of stones”, discovered beneath metres of earth, is now a spiritual place where ancient feeding troughs serve as a visual motif. Dimora Camille represents a cultural fusion where hospitality becomes art.
