From Cingoli to the Fiastra and Mivola valleys, a journey through nature and history in the Marche region
The 'Borgo dei Borghi' 2026 edition, the competition organised within the 'Kilimangiaro' television programme broadcast on Rai 3, this year awarded the Marche region, turning the spotlight on a territory where the heritage of small historic centres is one of its most authentic expressions. A territory of which Cingoli, the village in the province of Macerata that inherited the 'sceptre of most beautiful in Italy' from Militello, last year's winner, is certainly an excellence but certainly not the only one. In fact, the region is among those with the highest concentration of localities included in the circuit of the 'Most Beautiful Villages in Italy' and is proud of its mosaic of medieval centres, rural landscapes, natural environments and traditions that are also preserved in lesser-known areas such as Val Mivola and Val di Fiastra, places where the concept of slow tourism (the Val di Fiastra Ring is a 60-kilometre-long path connecting six historic villages), becomes a true travel experience.
