The other Dominican Republic is in the untamed Samaná
From the forests of El Limón to the sands of Playa Rincón
The Samaná hinterland is home to protected natural treasures that are well worth a visit. A path through the tropical forest, accessible on foot or on horseback, leads to Salto El Limón, a spectacular 40-metre waterfall that plunges into a natural freshwater pool. Continuing towards the eastern tip of the peninsula, you’ll come to Playa Rincón, a wild and unspoilt bay considered one of the most picturesque in the Caribbean. In this more secluded part, near Las Galeras, stands Villa Serena, a romantic and tranquil boutique hotel perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean, ideal for escaping the daily grind. Not far away, the restaurant El Cabito, perched on a cliff overlooking the sea, offers Mediterranean-Caribbean fusion cuisine to be savoured whilst watching the sunset over the water.
